Following the elections on 5th May 2011 we currently have vacancies for Parish Councillors.

After 1st July 2011 we will ‘co-opt’ an applicant onto the council at our meeting scheduled for 18th July. This means there would be no need to hold an election, campaign for votes, and so on. There are some restrictions on applicants and we recommend that you contact our Clerk, Greg Pacey, to discuss these and the process for becoming a Councillor.

However, you do not need to be a member of a political party, the Church, nor even have a political affiliation, just a desire to represent the interests of Wickersley, on all matters that affect Wickersley.

These may be planning matters, licensing applications or proposals by Rotherham Borough Council, which may improve or detract from our area. The Council own and manage numerous facilities in the village including all of the recreation grounds off Rosemary Road, Sorby Way and Warren Road and Wickersley Gorse and Woods. We also own the new Community Centre on Bawtry Road and there will be opportunities for new Councillors to become involved in various projects within Wickersley.
