Bowling Green

This facility is owned by us and leased to the Bowling Club. The ground is based at Doorstep Green and can be accessed via Warren Road or the footpath to the side of the Health Centre.

 

Set up by the Parish Council over fifteen years ago, and managed by Wickersley Social Club Bowling Club ever since, it has grown in size over the years to a membership of around fifty bowlers. The green is well kept and irrigated professionally, and there is a modern Pavilion building comprising kitchen and toilets. Membership for the 2008 season – which runs from April to September - is £25.00 per annum. However, you do not need to join and can pay £1.50 for an individual session. The Green is open every day during the season from 10.30am to 12noon and additionally on weekdays from 1.30pm to 4.00pm. Colin Mangham, Secretary, says, “Members represent all age groups, and this year we’re hoping to introduce a coaching scheme for young people to get involved. The members play in nine different leagues covering Rotherham, Maltby and Doncaster and in 2007 we won the Doncaster League”. New members are always welcome.
