The Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and Parish and Town Council's Joint Working Group formed in December 2005 to oversee the writing and development of the Joint Working Charter.
The group consists of 5 elected representatives of Parish and Town Councils, relevant Rotherham Council officers and is chaired by the Cabinet Member for Communities and Involvement. The group’s aim is to encourage joint working and co-operation between the two tiers of local government through the framework provided by the Joint Working Charter. In addition to this they are responsible for:

- Monitoring the terms of the Joint Working Charter;

Reviewing the Charter on an annual basis;

Providing an Annual Report on the progress of the Joint Working Charter and the Parish Network;

Arranging the Parish Network events;

Progressing issues raised by Parish and Town councils;

Considering regional and national issues effecting Parish and Town councils

Meetings
Meetings are held every six weeks and minutes of the meeting are distributed to all Parish and Town councils.
