Annual Christmas Festival.
The Annual Christmas Festival is usually held in the first or second week in December at the Lyric Theatre and Dance Hall and on the road out side (Laughton Road) This event coincides with the switching on of the Christmas Lights that Council Staff have put up for the Christmas and New Year Festivities.
Arrangements are made to close the road off for the duration of the Festival from around late afternoon to about 10.00pm to facilitate a small Fun Fair and a variety of stalls selling food and drink etc.
"The Lyric" has table top sales of goods and proceeds from this is generally to support Local charities.
A Children's Entertainer amuses the Kids, A Band is often booked and Christmas Carols and other Melodies are sung by a Local Choir.
The highlight of the evening is the attendance of Father Christmas who has presents for all the Children.
The event is opened by His/Her Worship the Mayor of Rotherham.
